| SPV invests in a variety
of industries (manufacturing, distribution, business services)
where the capital and expertise provided will have a significant
impact on the company. The target
companies we pursue will typically be for sale because
the owner has reached retirement age, has health problems,
needs additional management expertise beyond his capability,
is "burned-out" and wants to move on, or is capital
constrained and needs to bring on a financial partner to achieve
his business objectives. We look to add
value by providing liquidity to small company owners,
adding growth capital for future expansion, and providing
management depth and experience to develop the next phase
in each company's business growth cycle.
A cornerstone of our philosophy
is to provide or make available active on-site management
to portfolio companies by experienced holding company principals.
SPV's extensive network of committed managers, executives,
and entrepreneurs (our "management
bench") will become the new management teams
for the target companies. These managers, who come from
various industries and experiences, will typically make
equity investments in the companies they will run, so we
and our management team each have significant "skin
in the game" so our interests are aligned and our focus
is on growing and operating the company to the best of our
capabilities. We win or lose together.
The funding and management skill SPV provides can be used
to add new products, expand geographic markets, invest in
better technology, make acquisitions, etc. As the human
and financial capital is put to work, the enterprise
will grow. Because the companies are small, our contributions
can be significant in accelerating growth and allowing management
to focus on running the business.
Our investment horizon is long-term, and we have no pre-determined
life or required period for exit from an investment.
